The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ&CD) is re-advertising a fantastic opportunity for a qualified professional to join their team in Pretoria. Position Details

  • Position: Assistant Director: Translation and Editorial Services (Afrikaans)
  • Salary: R468,459 – R551,823 per annum (A performance agreement is required)
  • Centre: National Office, Pretoria
  • Closing Date: 17 June 2025

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate NQF Level 6 qualification in Communication or Linguistics (as recognized by SAQA).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a translation services environment.
  • Language Requirement: Major in Afrikaans.
  • In-depth knowledge of Public Service statutory frameworks (PSA, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, etc.).
  • Understanding of the Code of Conduct and departmental policy application.

Key Competencies: Strategic thinking, financial management, communication, project management, team leadership, computer literacy, and problem-solving.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the translation function within the department.
  • Editing translated bills to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Managing terminology development.
  • Managing human, financial, and other resources effectively.
