Who Should Apply? The Requirements

To be considered for this senior role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Matric/Senior Certificate plus an appropriate 3-year Degree or National Diploma (NQF 6) in Public Administration, Public Management, or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience within the criminal justice sector.
  • At least four (4) years of this experience must be at a supervisory level.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, prescripts, and the National Development Plan.
  • Understanding of intergovernmental relations.
  • A valid driver’s license is essential.
  • Strong computer literacy, analytical, problem-solving, and diversity management skills.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a critical role in the effective functioning of the region. Key duties include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the region, including staff and administrative procedures.
  • Exercising control over the ICCV post establishment and VC demarcation.
  • Addressing and handling inmate complaints efficiently and professionally.
  • Overseeing the management of policies and working documents.
  • Promoting community involvement in correctional matters and building sustainable relationships with stakeholders and community organizations.
  • Monitoring the implementation of JICS policies by unit staff and contract workers.
  • Planning and coordinating staff trips to ensure optimal financial practice and managing the unit’s asset register.
  • Performing any additional duties as delegated by the Regional Manager or Director.
