Who Should Apply? The Requirements.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualifications (One of the following):

  • National Diploma in Labour Law (NQF6)
  • Advanced Labour Law (NQF7)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law (NQF8)
  • Law Degree (LLB)
  • BCOM Law

Experience and Other Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of functional experience in Employment Equity inspections is a significant advantage.
  • A valid driver’s license is essential.

Required Knowledge:

You must have a strong understanding of the Batho Pele Principles, Departmental policies, and key labour legislation, including:

  • Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
  • Employment Equity Act (EEA)
  • Compensation for Occupational Injuries & Diseases Act (COIDA)
  • Employment Services Act
  • Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA)
  • Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act (UICA)

Your Key Responsibilities (Duties)

As an Employment Equity Inspector, your role will be dynamic and impactful. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting procedural inspections and Director-General (DG) reviews to ensure employer compliance with the Employment Equity Act.
  • Engaging with non-compliant employers to enforce legislation and secure compliance.
  • Planning and conducting advocacy campaigns to educate on the EEA and analyzing their effectiveness.
  • Contributing to the provincial planning and drafting of inspection schedules.
  • Assisting in ensuring the quality of inspection files are up to standard before referral to the Principal Inspector.
