  • Reports to: Specialist: End User Computing

Purpose of the Job

To provide exceptional remote and onsite LAN and Desktop technical support, ensuring client requirements are not only met but their expectations are consistently exceeded. You will be a crucial part of maintaining the technological backbone of the enterprise.

Key Responsibility Areas

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Providing first and second-level LAN and desktop support to end-users.
  • Installing, configuring, and deploying new IT equipment (workstations, peripherals).
  • Implementing, customizing, and maintaining remote software deployment systems.
  • Offering support for local IT and software resources.
  • Providing expert advisory services to clients on LAN and desktop issues.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • A National Higher Certificate in IT (NQF Level 5) PLUS the A+ and N+ certifications. These can be either included as subjects within the certificate or held as separate certifications (their expiry date is not relevant).

Required Experience:

  • At least one year of corporate experience in a Service Management or End User Support environment.
  • OR Call Centre Agent experience with 1–2 years of relevant experience in End User Computing services and LAN infrastructure.
  • Experience maintaining and supporting servers, desktops, LAN cabling, switches, and other peripherals.
  • A proven track record of resolving hardware and software service requests according to SLAs.

Technical Competencies & Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of:

  • Desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows) and applications.
  • Network cabling and telephony systems.
  • Security software and hardware.
  • LAN infrastructure principles, topology, and internet protocols.
  • Routing and switching technologies.
  • ITIL frameworks is beneficial.
  • Relevant IT procedures, policies, and standards.

Other Special Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license and own transport are essential.
