About the Role

The Department of Labour is seeking a talented and experienced Graphic Design and Media Production Specialist to join their Head Office team in Pretoria. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative professional to apply their skills within the public service, contributing to the department’s communication and branding efforts.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) as recognized by SAQA in one of the following fields:
    • Media Production
    • Graphic Design
    • Media Studies
    • Multimedia
    • Brand Design Communication
    • Web Development
  • A valid driver’s licence will be a distinct advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of functional experience in graphic design and media production.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge: Specific knowledge of the Apple Mac Platform and software packages including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and QuarkXPress. Proficiency on the PC platform with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Understanding of photography, photographic equipment, printing processes, and Public Service regulations.

Skills: Exceptional design and layout skills, strategic conceptualization, adaptability to change (software and machinery), service delivery innovation, excellent time management with 100% adherence to deadlines, great interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication, client orientation, project management, problem-solving, analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and computer literacy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting and using systems to ensure efficient production of publicity material.
  • Designing and laying out all publicity material for the Department.
  • Coordinating the quotations process for publications.
  • Preparing artwork for Social Media platforms.
  • Preparing final artwork for printing.
  • Executing photography for in-house Departmental events.
