As a Plant Operator, you will be on the front lines of our production process, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant and tank farm. Your role is crucial to maintaining the high standards we are known for.
Who We Are Looking For: Qualifications & Skills
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
Essential Education:
- A Grade 12 (Standard 10) certificate is required.
- A minimum of 40% in both English and Mathematics.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills in English.
- A motivated, confident, and team-oriented attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
- Be reliable, accountable, and proactive in your duties.
- Must be prepared and available to work shifts (day/night) or be on standby according to the operational roster.
- A clear criminal record is mandatory.
- Own reliable transport is required due to the location.
Your Key Responsibilities:
In this hands-on role, your duties will include:
- Controlling and monitoring the field operations of the plant and tank farm.
- Recording plant conditions and promptly reporting any abnormalities or faulty equipment.
- Analyzing plant and product samples and assisting in chemical and product batch preparations.
- Preparing work clearance permits and monitoring contractors on site.
- Safely inspecting and filling road tankers or ISO-tanks.
- Maintaining excellent working relationships with all Evonik Peroxide Africa personnel.
- Stepping in to act as a Panel Operator when required.
- Ensuring impeccable housekeeping and strict adherence to all safety protocols.
- Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Responsible Care standards.
