About the Role

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) is seeking a highly skilled and analytical professional to join its team as a Senior Vetting Investigator. This critical role involves conducting in-depth field-work investigations to ensure national security and the integrity of the department’s personnel. Key Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A National Diploma (NQF 6) in Risk Management, Safety and Security Management, or Social Science.
  • A minimum of 3 years of investigation experience.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Essential Knowledge: Departmental policies, the MISS document, record management, security risks, security vetting procedures, and related legislation.

Critical Skills: The ideal candidate will be a proficient problem-solver with strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills. Key competencies include:

  • Team leadership and delegation
  • Financial management
  • Planning, organising, and execution
  • Conflict management and diplomacy
  • Interviewing and listening skills
  • Computer literacy

Note: Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo practical exercises and integrity assessments.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough vetting field-work investigations.
  • Providing inputs for the development and implementation of vetting policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Maintaining effective communication channels with the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and other related agencies.
  • Administering vetting files and participating in task teams for vetting projects.
  • Performing managerial activities as required.
