The Magistrate’s Office in Welkom is seeking a dedicated and proficient Principal Court Interpreter to join their team. Position Details

- Salary: R397,116 – R467,790 per annum (The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement)

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 certificate.
- National Diploma in Legal Interpreting (NQF level 5) or any other relevant tertiary qualification at NQF level 5.
- Five (5) years of practical court interpreting experience.
- A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in two or more indigenous languages and English. The specific language requirements for this post are: Sesotho, IsiXhosa, English, and Afrikaans.
- A valid driver’s license.
Key Competencies: Excellent communication and listening skills, strong interpersonal abilities, effective time management, computer literacy, analytical thinking, problem-solving, planning and organising, confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Rendering high-quality interpreting services in court proceedings.
- Translating legal documents and exhibits accurately.
- Assisting with the reconstruction of court records.
- Developing and managing specialized terminology.
- Attending to personnel administrative tasks.
- Procuring Foreign Language Interpreters and Casual Interpreters in line with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Providing effective people management and supervision.
