The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is re-advertising a critical role for a Consultant in Information System Security, with a specialized focus on Oracle Database Security. Purpose of the Role

You will be at the forefront of providing comprehensive information security services. Your core mandate will be to protect vital information systems through threat and risk management, solution architecture design, secure configuration, and security operations management. You will play a hands-on role in incident response, vulnerability assessment, and ensuring governance and compliance, directly contributing to the nation’s cyber resilience.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Design and implement robust security standards, procedures, and policies for all system security processes.
  • Secure information system assets by proactively defining and addressing potential and actual security threats.
  • Conduct regular threat and vulnerability assessments to minimize risk and enhance security capabilities within SITA’s ICT infrastructure.
  • Manage the implementation of information security awareness and training programs for employees and clients.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of information security controls and services aligned with cyber security frameworks.

Qualifications and Experience: What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualification: A 3-year National Diploma or Degree (NQF level 6) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Management, or a relevant discipline.

Essential Certification: A professional IT security management certification such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or CCNP. ITIL Foundation or CoBit Foundation are also required.

Highly Advantageous Certifications:

  • Advanced certifications like SANS GIAC/GCIA/GCIH, CISSP, or CASP.
  • SIEM-specific training and certification.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).

Experience: 6 – 7 years of experience in ICT Infrastructure or application development, including substantial IT Security working experience.

Mandatory Special Requirements: Your Oracle Specialty

This role demands certified, hands-on expertise in specific Oracle Database Security components. You must be skilled in:

  • Key Vault and TDE Encryption
  • Audit Vault
  • Database Vault
  • Database Firewall
  • Data Masking

You are expected to be a certified Oracle Database Administrator (12c/19c), self-driven, and intensely security-focused. Your day-to-day tasks will involve taking operational ownership of these components, performing fine-tuning, generating critical audit reports, assisting internal DBAs, and resolving complex security issues. Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL for custom reporting in Audit Vault is crucial.
