Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements

To be considered for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in Project Management and managing resources.
  • At least three to five (3-5) years of proven work experience at an Assistant Director level.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Public Service and NSF mandates, the education system, and relevant legislation including the Skills Development Act, PFMA, and Public Service Act.
  • Key competencies in strategic leadership, communication, people management, problem-solving, and project management.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Your Key Responsibilities: Making a National Impact

As the Deputy Director, your duties will be central to the NSF’s mission of funding critical skills development. Your role will include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Managing the entire bursary initiation process and developing marketing and sourcing strategies for the NSF’s Outreach Programme.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Developing a monitoring and evaluation log frame, reviewing impact assessments on bursary recipients, and facilitating lessons learned.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Developing and maintaining crucial agreements with bursary agencies and strategic community partners.
  • Performance Management: Overseeing the performance of bursary agencies and managing the performance of employees within the directorate in line with PMDS policies.
  • Resource Management: Monitoring the directorate’s expenditure against its allocated budget and providing team members with the necessary resources to succeed.
