This is a high-level opportunity to shape the operational backbone of a key government department.

Remuneration Package
This senior position offers an attractive all-inclusive annual salary package of R1,216,824 (Level 13). Notably, 30% of this package can be structured to suit the successful candidate’s individual needs, providing flexibility and optimal benefits.
Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements
To be considered for this leadership role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7) in Property Management, Facilities Management, or Security Management.
- A non-negotiable prerequisite: Successful completion of the Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme (Nyukela certificate) from the National School of Government (NSG).
- At least five (5) years of experience at a middle/senior management level with extensive, hands-on experience in security and facilities management.
- In-depth knowledge of key legislation, including the Public Service Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and the Constitution.
- Exceptional core competencies in Strategic Leadership, Financial Management, People Management, and Risk Management.
- A valid driver’s license and computer literacy are essential.
Your Key Responsibilities
As the Director, you will be at the helm of ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficiently functioning operational environment. Your duties will include:
- Strategic Property & Facilities Management: Managing and maintaining all GCIS-occupied properties in partnership with the Department of Public Works, executing strategic accommodation planning, and overseeing leases and municipal services.
- Maintenance & Compliance: Ensuring all buildings and equipment meet strict Occupational Health & Safety standards. You will develop preventative maintenance schedules, manage urgent repairs, and ensure compliance with all environmental and building regulations.
- Financial Oversight & Cost Saving: Approving and monitoring expenses, obtaining quotations for value-for-money services, and identifying cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Security Leadership: Managing internal security personnel and the implementation of the departmental security policy.
- Stakeholder & Supplier Management: Building strong relationships with landlords, service providers, and contractors. Negotiating contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and monitoring performance.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Implementing energy-saving measures and supporting the department’s broader sustainability goals.
- Reporting: Compiling comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for the Directorate.
