Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Qualifications: A three-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of functional experience in Financial Management Services.
  • Knowledge: A strong understanding of:
    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
    • Treasury Regulations
    • Financial prescripts and manuals
    • Batho Pele Principles
    • Departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Skills: Proficiency in:
    • Planning and Organizing
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office)
    • Communication (verbal and written)
    • Problem Solving
    • Supervisory Skills
    • Accounting
    • Presentation
    • Analysis

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Authorize all financial transactions for the province on financial systems (BAS, LOGIS, PERSAL, Safety-net) on a daily basis.
  • Verify information to ensure proper management of financial documents (Daily).
  • Monitor the budget processes for the province.
  • Maintain proper control of Petty cash (Daily).
  • Clear suspense accounts and unallocated accounts before month-end closure (Monthly).
