Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications:

  • A three-year relevant tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) in Communication Science, Marketing, Public Relations, Media Studies, or Journalism.

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of supervisor experience.
  • Two (2) years of functional experience in media/public relations/marketing/communication services.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of: Departmental Policies and Procedures, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Project Management, and Batho Pele Principles.
  • Essential Skills: Planning and Organizing, Interpersonal, Computer Literacy, Communication, Problem Solving, Listening, Observation, Negotiation, and Event Management.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of critical functions, including:

  • Acting as the official spokesperson for the Department of Labour in the province.
  • Organizing stakeholder briefings, exhibitions, and outreach programmes.
  • Marketing and promoting the services of the Department at a provincial level.
  • Managing all internal communications, including notice boards, intranet updates, and internal newsletters.
  • Coordinating and facilitating major internal and external events, such as Imbizo programmes and national commemorative days.
