About the Role
The Provincial Office in Parktown is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Administration Officer to join its Inspection and Enforcement Services (IES) unit. This is a supervisory role ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in public administration and a thorough understanding of South African labour legislation.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications: A three-year National Diploma (NQF6) or an Undergraduate Bachelor Degree (NQF7) in Office Management, Public Management, Public Administration, Business Management, or Business Administration.
- Experience: Four (4) years of relevant experience, of which two (2) years must be at a Supervisory level (e.g., Senior Admin Officer/Practitioner) and two (2) years must be functional experience in Inspection/Administration Services.
- Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of:
- Departmental policies and procedures
- Skills Development Act (SDA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Public Service Regulations
- Skills Development Levies Act (SDLA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
- Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA), Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA), UI Contributions Act, Employment Equity Act.
- Skills: Excellent facilitation, planning, organizing, and computer literacy skills. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, interviewing, listening, and observation skills. Must be innovative, analytical, and possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing all administration pertaining to inspections and enforcement services.
- Conducting Labour Centre verifications and audits to ensure necessary tools of trade are available and improve IES systems.
- Collecting, compiling, and consolidating IES statistical reports for submission.
- Coordinating and monitoring projects within the IES unit.
- Compiling reports on complex cases for the attention of the Chief Director.
- Attending to DG (Director-General) and Ministerial enquiries.
- Managing the resources within the sub-section.
