About the Role

Are you a seasoned Server Administrator with a strong background in SharePoint and Microsoft technologies? The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist to join their Service Management division. This is a pivotal role focused on managing and maintaining the core server management infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and delivering exceptional service within the enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing services and solutions for core server infrastructure and directory services.
  • Designing and monitoring procedures and standards for directory-integrated systems and servers.
  • Taking ownership and resolving high/medium priority operational incidents.
  • Implementing and managing server toolsets and dashboards.
  • Proactively monitoring server availability and performance.
  • Publishing and distributing server software and hardware upgrades.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Minimum Qualification: A 3-year National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6) in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

Essential Certifications: MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, Microsoft Azure, or Microsoft 365 certifications. SharePoint certification is highly preferred.

Experience: 5-6 years of experience as a Specialist Server Administrator, with a strong preference for SharePoint knowledge. You must have proven experience in:

  • Provisioning, supporting, and maintaining server infrastructure (Directory Services, virtualization).
  • Working within the ITIL framework (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
  • Designing, planning, and implementing enterprise server solutions.

Technical Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of:

  • Server Operational Management and performance.
  • Windows and Linux Servers, Hyper-V virtualization.
  • Core technologies: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, VPN.
  • Disaster Recovery principles and practices.
  • SharePoint technologies and concepts (a significant advantage).
  • Service Management systems (e.g., ITSM).
