Purpose of the Job

The primary purpose of this role is to render an efficient and proactive maintenance service to all SITA buildings. The successful candidate will be crucial in ensuring the safety (OHS) of staff, visitors, and assets through diligent oversight and management.

Key Responsibility Areas

As a Foreman at SITA, your duties will include:

  • Conducting regular inspections, audits, and developing comprehensive work schedules for buildings and infrastructure.
  • Performing quality control routine checks to ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Allocating work according to the Building and Maintenance Plan to SITA employees and enforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Implementing work schedules in strict accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Supervising resources, including team members, to ensure optimal productivity and safety.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Minimum Qualification:
A National Higher Certificate (NQF level 5) in a relevant discipline OR accredited specialised courses (1-2 years).

Essential Certification:
An accredited Infrastructure certificate in one of the following fields: Plumbing, Partitioning, Painting, Water Proofing, or Carpentry.

Experience:
1 – 2 years of practical experience applicable to the specified discipline. A solid understanding of both the theoretical reasoning and detailed practical applications behind building maintenance processes is required.

Technical Competencies and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and skills in:

  • First Aid procedures.
  • Relevant legislation (Building Regulations, OHSA).
  • Basic Financial Management and PFMA.
  • Building maintenance and Project Management principles.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Supervising a team and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Reading and interpreting building floor plans.
  • Willingness to work overtime and be on standby when required.
