The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solution Architect to join their National and Regional Consulting Services division on a 3-year fixed-term contract. Position Overview

  • Salary: R 651,627 – R 977,440 per annum
  • Location: SITA Erasmuskloof, Pretoria
  • Report To: Lead Solution Architect
  • Contract: 3-year Fixed Term (Open to Internal & External Candidates)

Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing solution analysis and architecture to design, develop, procure, and maintain ICT solutions and systems. This role is central to ensuring all solutions align with established ICT standards and the broader enterprise architecture for Government. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technology, working across various architecture domains including Business, Information/Data, Application, Technology, and Security.

Key Responsibility Areas

Your core duties will include:

  • Supporting business lines in developing and implementing solution strategies and roadmaps.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of governance frameworks to ensure quality and control.
  • Creating contextual, conceptual, logical, and physical Solution Architecture blueprints.
  • Directing and quality-assuring solution and software development.
  • Improving interoperability across government systems through architectural mechanisms.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Education:

  • A minimum of a 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in an ICT-related field.

Experience:

  • 6 – 7 years of overall experience in the ICT field, including solution analysis, development, and architecture.
  • This must include 4 years of specific experience in solution analysis and architecture within a large corporate or public sector organization.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in solution design and modelling, translating business requirements into proposed solutions.
  • Proven project management competency and a track record of executing multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and leadership abilities.

Essential Technical Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in:

  • Architecture Frameworks: TOGAF, GWEA Framework, Zachman, etc.
  • Governance & Compliance: COBIT, ITIL, ISO standards (9001, IEC12207), CMMI.
  • Development Methodologies: RUP, Agile, SDLC.
  • Technologies: .NET Framework, Java Framework, Middleware, Portal technologies (HTML, CSS, JAVA scripting).
  • Other Key Areas: IT Security, COTS/OSS Products, Business Process Management, Project Management, and Stakeholder Management.
